About this tool

Publimetra is a free, open researcher discovery tool that lets anyone explore the academic output and bibliometric profile of scientists and scholars worldwide — no login, no paywall.

Data Source

All data is retrieved in real time from OpenAlex, a fully open, non-profit index of over 250 million scholarly works maintained by OurResearch. OpenAlex ingests metadata from Crossref, PubMed, institutional repositories, and direct publisher agreements. Because the data is live, profiles reflect the most current state of the index.

How Metrics Are Calculated

Total Citations — The cumulative count of times a researcher's works have been cited by other works indexed in OpenAlex. Provided directly by the OpenAlex author record.

h-index — The largest number h such that at least h of the author's works each have at least h citations. Sourced from the summary_stats.h_index field in OpenAlex.

FWCI (Field-Weighted Citation Impact) — A normalised citation score that compares the citations received by a work against the average for works of the same type, subject field, and publication year. A score of 1.0 equals the global average; values above 1.0 indicate above-average impact. Publimetra displays the mean FWCI across all of an author's works with a positive FWCI score, excluding works with missing or zero values.

Authorship Positions — Derived by inspecting the ordered authorships array on each work. First Author: the target author appears at index 0. Last Author: at the final index (with ≥ 2 co-authors). Single Author: the only listed author. Corresponding Author: where the is_corresponding flag is true.

Impact Tier — Mapped from the work's citation_normalized_percentile.value: ≥ 99th → Top 1%; ≥ 90th → Top 10%; ≥ 80th → Top 20%; ≥ 50th → Above avg.; below → Below avg.

FWCI Distribution Histogram — Works with a positive FWCI are bucketed into five bands (0–1, 1–2, 2–3, 3–4, 4+) and visualised as relative bar heights.

Publications Timeline — Works are counted by publication_year and plotted chronologically, filling in any years with zero output.

Limitations

Coverage depends on what is indexed in OpenAlex. Some older works, book chapters, or conference papers may be missing or have incomplete metadata. FWCI scores are provided by OpenAlex's data partners and may not be available for all works.
